Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society Tour of Homes Part III

McWay House
4221 Lorraine Avenue
Garage Apartment

If you are reading the Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society Tour of Homes for the first time please check out posts I and II here and here.  Today's post is featuring the garage apartment of the McWay House.  It was such a great feature of the house that I had to make it a separate post.
The picture above is the side entrance to the garage apartment space that leads you into a game room.

This is the entrance if you're looking from the backside of the house.  There's a covered walkway from the mud room to the garage.

This is the side view again and the barn doors open up to the garage where the cars are kept.  Look at those great sconces.

I loved this little nook here with a french settee and the gold mirror.  Tangerine pillows accent this chic space.

Look at this dutch door.  The modern barn theme here is done well!  The floors are stained concrete.

Loved the paint color in this room.

Shot of the chandelier and the loft bedroom that overlooks the game room.  Loved the ceiling treatment too.

This is a view from the loft above.  Look at the actual metal garage door that access the pool area.

The loft space was very large and inviting.

The eclectic mix was well thought out

The sconces compliment the ones in the game area.

Look at the lighting over the desk.

Loved the railroad stripe curtains.

A close up of the banister detail.

Downstairs was a pool/guest bath.  Look at the flush mechanism on the wall - very European.
The entire scheme for the garage apartment flowed throughout and kept you yearning for more.  Like the surprise tan and white zebra wallcovering in here.

A look at the garage apartment from the pool view.
Isn't this amazing?  I wish I could go back and hang out here some more or better yet I wish my backyard looked like this!
